Terms of service

Last updated: 28 October 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply when you visit, shop through or otherwise use the Card Reserve NZ website at cardreservenz.com (the “Website”).

Card Reserve NZ is a New Zealand-based online card store offering sports cards, trading card game cards, graded cards and selected collector products. We also provide a consignment service for approved cards.

In these Terms, “Card Reserve NZ”, “Card Reserve”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the Card Reserve NZ store.

By using the Website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms and our published policies. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Website.

1. Who may use the Website

You must be at least 18 years old to place an order or submit cards for consignment. If you are younger than 18, you may only use the Website with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

You must provide complete and accurate information when ordering, creating an account or submitting cards. You must also be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under New Zealand law.

2. Our products

Card Reserve NZ sells sports cards, trading card game cards, raw and professionally graded cards, Reserve Bin cards, consigned cards and other selected collector products.

Some products may be owned by Card Reserve NZ, while others may be sold through our consignment service. Card Reserve NZ manages the product listing, customer payment, packing, fulfilment and customer communication for products sold through the Website. Product availability may change without notice.

3. Card photographs and descriptions

We aim to provide clear photographs and accurate information about every card, including its set, year, player or character, card number, condition and grade where applicable. Unless expressly stated otherwise, photographs show the actual card being offered for sale.

Because raw cards are condition-sensitive collectibles, they may have minor imperfections caused by printing, packaging, handling or age. Buyers should carefully review all available photographs and condition notes before purchasing.

A raw card is not guaranteed to achieve any particular grade if it is later submitted to a professional grading company.

4. Professionally graded cards

Graded cards are sold according to the grading company and grade displayed on the slab and in the product listing.

Third-party grading companies operate independently from Card Reserve NZ. We do not issue or control their grades and do not guarantee that another grading company would assign the same grade. Buyers should inspect the slab, certification information and product photographs before purchasing.

5. Prices and payments

All prices are displayed in New Zealand dollars unless stated otherwise. The product price, applicable delivery charge and total order amount will be shown before payment is completed.

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods offered at checkout. Your order will not be processed until payment has been authorised or received.

We take reasonable care to keep prices and listing information accurate. If we discover a genuine, obvious pricing or listing error affecting your order, we will contact you promptly. Any cancellation and refund will be handled under section 6 and applicable New Zealand law. We will not charge a higher price without your agreement.

6. Placing an order, stock availability and genuine errors

Submitting an order is an offer to purchase the selected products.

We take reasonable care to keep stock information accurate. Occasionally, an item may become unavailable because of an inventory discrepancy or a sale at a show or through another sales channel before our website updates.

If an item is unavailable, or we discover a genuine, obvious pricing or listing error affecting your order, we will contact you promptly. Where permitted by New Zealand law, we may cancel the affected item and refund the amount paid for it. We will not substitute a card or charge a higher price without your agreement.

Where permitted by New Zealand law, we may also decline or cancel an order if payment cannot be authorised, we reasonably suspect fraud, delivery cannot be completed to the supplied address or the order breaches these Terms.

If we cancel an item after receiving payment, we will promptly refund the amount paid for that item and any delivery charge attributable solely to it. If we cancel the whole order, we will refund all payments for that order, including delivery charges. Refunds will be made to the original payment method wherever reasonably possible.

This section does not limit your rights or remedies under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or other applicable New Zealand law.

6A. Make an Offer

Some cards on the Website include a “Make an offer” option. By submitting an offer, you agree to the following:

  • An offer is not a purchase. Card Reserve NZ may accept, decline or counter any offer at its discretion, and you are not obliged to pay unless your offer (or a counter-offer you agree to) is accepted.
  • Offers below the minimum shown on the listing will not be considered.
  • If your offer is accepted, we will send you a secure payment link. You must complete payment within 48 hours of the link being sent. The card will be held for you during that time.
  • If payment is not received within 48 hours, the accepted offer will be cancelled and the card may be returned to sale.
  • Failing to pay for an accepted offer two times will result in a ban from making offers and purchasing on the Website. Where permitted by New Zealand law, we may decline or cancel any future offers or orders from a banned customer.

Accepted offers are otherwise subject to these Terms in the same way as any other order.

7. Shipping and delivery

Orders are prepared after payment is received and packed to protect the cards during delivery.

Available shipping destinations, delivery methods and final delivery charges are displayed at checkout. Card Reserve NZ delivers throughout New Zealand and may offer delivery to selected international destinations.

Where tracking is included in the chosen delivery service, tracking information will be provided after the order has been fulfilled. Cards in the same order may be packaged together where we consider it safe and appropriate.

More information is available on our Shipping and Delivery page.

8. Delivery information

You are responsible for supplying a complete and accurate delivery address. Please contact us promptly if you notice an error. We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order has entered fulfilment.

Card Reserve NZ is not responsible for delays caused by couriers, customs authorities, severe weather, incorrect delivery information or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. This does not limit any rights you may have under applicable law.

Any international taxes, customs charges or import duties are the buyer’s responsibility unless stated otherwise during checkout.

9. Returns and refunds

Please choose individual cards carefully. Because cards are collectibles and condition-sensitive products, Card Reserve NZ does not generally accept returns simply because a customer changes their mind.

If an order arrives damaged, is incorrect or is materially different from its listing, contact cardreservenz@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Please include your order number, photographs of the card and packaging, and a brief description of the problem. We may request additional information before determining the appropriate remedy.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts rights that cannot legally be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable New Zealand law.

See our Returns and Refunds page for more information.

10. Accounts

You may be able to create a customer account to manage orders and account information. You are responsible for providing accurate details, keeping your login information secure, preventing unauthorised access and informing us if you believe your account has been compromised.

We may restrict or close an account if we reasonably believe it is being used fraudulently, unlawfully or in breach of these Terms.

11. Consignment service

Card Reserve NZ allows collectors to submit raw or professionally graded cards for possible consignment.

Submitting a card does not guarantee that we will accept or list it. We review each submission before asking the consignor to send the card.

Full information about the process is available on our Sell and Consign page.

12. Consignor responsibilities

By submitting a card for consignment, you confirm that:

  • You own the card or have the owner’s authority to consign it;
  • The card is authentic to the best of your knowledge;
  • The card is not stolen or subject to a security interest or competing claim;
  • Photographs and information supplied with the submission are accurate;
  • Known damage, alterations or condition issues have been disclosed; and
  • You have provided accurate grading details and certification information for graded cards.

We may reject or return a card if its authenticity, condition, grade or other details differ from the information submitted.

13. Sending accepted cards

After preliminary approval, accepted cards must be securely packaged and sent to Card Reserve NZ using tracked shipping.

Incoming shipping is paid by the consignor. You may arrange shipping yourself or request a Card Reserve NZ shipping label at your cost. The card remains your responsibility until Card Reserve NZ confirms delivery.

Delivery instructions will be provided after your consignment submission has been approved.

14. Inspection and listing

After receiving an accepted card, Card Reserve NZ will inspect it, compare it with the submitted information, take new listing photographs, prepare the product listing and review the proposed selling price.

If we recommend changing the description or price, we will discuss the proposed change with you before publishing the listing.

Customer-submitted photographs are used for our initial assessment. We normally take new photographs after the card is received and approved.

15. Consignment commission

Commission is calculated using the card’s final selling price after discounts:

Final selling price Card Reserve commission Consignor receives
NZ$500 or more 10% 90%
NZ$200–NZ$499 13% 87%
Under NZ$200 15% 85%

Shipping charges are separate and are not included when calculating commission. The applicable commission tier is determined from the final selling price and confirmed before payout.

We may update these rates in the future. Any new rates will be disclosed before they apply to a newly accepted consignment.

16. Consignment period and storage

The minimum consignment period is 24 days. After that period, the consignor may request the return of an unsold card. Collection or tracked return shipping is at the consignor’s cost.

Storage is free for the first 90 days. After 90 days, storage is charged at 1% of the card’s declared value for each month it remains in our possession.

A card cannot be withdrawn after a customer has purchased it.

17. Consignment payouts

Consignors can use the separate consignment portal to review their inventory, sales and available payout information.

When sale proceeds become eligible and appear as available, the consignor may request payment to a nominated New Zealand bank account. Card Reserve NZ will normally process an eligible payout within five business days after receiving the request.

We may temporarily delay a payout while addressing a customer return or refund, payment dispute or chargeback, suspected fraud, question about ownership or authenticity, or possible breach of these Terms.

18. Rejected and unsold cards

If a submitted card is rejected after inspection, it may be collected or returned using tracked shipping at the consignor’s cost. Card Reserve NZ is not required to list a card simply because preliminary approval was given.

We will take reasonable care of cards while they are in our possession. Please contact us promptly if you believe a card has been lost or damaged while held by us.

19. Prohibited products and conduct

You must not submit, purchase or attempt to sell through Card Reserve NZ counterfeit or stolen cards; reprints, replicas or custom cards represented as genuine originals; cards with altered or misrepresented grading slabs or labels; products you do not own or have authority to sell; products that infringe another person’s rights; or anything unlawful to sell in New Zealand.

You must not supply false or misleading information, interfere with Website security, access another customer’s account, use the Website for fraud, copy or scrape Website content without permission, or abuse or threaten our customers, consignors or personnel.

We may reject a submission, cancel an order or restrict access where we reasonably believe this section has been breached.

20. Website content and intellectual property

The Card Reserve NZ name, logo, Website design, written content and original photographs belong to Card Reserve NZ or are used with permission.

You may browse and use the Website for personal shopping purposes. You must not reproduce, distribute, modify or commercially use our content without written permission.

When you submit card photographs or descriptions, you confirm that you have permission to provide them. You give Card Reserve NZ permission to store and use that material for reviewing and administering your submission.

21. Website availability and liability

We aim to keep the Website accurate, secure and available, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may modify, suspend or withdraw part of the Website when reasonably necessary for maintenance, security or business purposes.

To the extent permitted by law, Card Reserve NZ is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from Website outages, third-party services or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in this section limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

22. Personal information

We collect and use information required to process orders, communicate with customers, administer consignments, prevent fraud and operate the Website.

Information may be handled by service providers involved in ecommerce, payments, delivery, communications and consignment management. We will handle personal information in accordance with applicable New Zealand privacy law.

23. Consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986 or any other law that cannot be contracted out of.

The no-change-of-mind rule does not affect your rights when a product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or materially different from its description.

24. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms when our Website, services, pricing or legal obligations change.

The updated version will be published on the Website with a revised “Last updated” date. Changes will not retrospectively alter an order already accepted unless required by law.

25. Governing law

These Terms are governed by New Zealand law. You and Card Reserve NZ submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts. Depending on the nature and value of a dispute, the Disputes Tribunal may also be available.
